Flying into Orange County
MSTP applicants are required to cover their own transportation costs. However, we do provide one night hotel accomodation the night before your interview. Typically, applicants are given accomodations at Ayres Hotel & Suites.

Dinner with Students
Current MSTP students from different years in the program will take you out for dinner with other applicants the night before your interview. At the dinner, you can ask any question you have about the program. This is an informal way for students to learn about the Program and the students. The MSTP student coordinators will be emailing the applicants individually to arrange for transportation to and from the hotel.

Day of the Interview
We typically have 4 or 5 interview days where we interview groups of 8-10 MSTP applicants. The morning starts with an optional 8AM student-lead tour of the UCI School of Medicine Campus. At 9AM, you can pick up your admissions folder where you will find your schedule for the day. the Office of Admissions will go over housing issues, etc. to MD applicants and MSTP applicants. A light continental breakfast is served in the morning.

Lunch starts at 11AM. At noon, you will meet with your MSTP student interviewer who will fill out both a MD and MSTP interview form. After the student interview, you will meet with one faculty member on behalf of the School of Medicine and two faculty members on behalf of the MSTP.

After your last interview, you are free to leave.

Post-Interviews
You will hear back from UCI MSTP when your interview application has been reviewed by the MSTP and MD admissions committee independently. Thus, students who successfully enter the MSTP program must be offered admissions by both committees. Applicants who are not accepted by the MSTP can still be offered admission to the MD program.
