Family Medicine Clinic
(Irvine, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Anaheim, Westminster, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano)
Goal: Provide longitudinal clinical experience for MD/PhD students who have finished the first two years of med school and are in the midst of their PhD training
Frequency: Half-day clinic, once a month
Introductory sessions (3 half days) during the first week
Schedule: To be arranged between preceptor and student
Duration: Two years (in the first year of the program, there may be some students who only participate for one year because they will finish their PhD and start their MS3 clinical clerkships in 2009)
Attendance: Students must notify preceptor and administrative coordinator (see below) prior to the clinic if they are unable to attend and make arrangements for a make-up clinic
Commitment: Don't sign up unless you are committed so that you don’t jeopardize this opportunity for future students. Remember that the preceptors are volunteering their time.
Evaluation: Not graded, but annual written evaluation from preceptor to provide feedback. Case presentation conference where students take turns to present a clinical case to the other students and several clinicians.
